The Italians did not like the way our CIA treated their citizens, and The Washington Post thought it was breaking news.

Italian court convicts 23 Americans of kidnapping in CIA rendition of Muslim cleric

CIA operatives and a U.S. Air Force colonel had been tried in absentia on kidnapping charges for their involvement in the 2003 abduction of Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr, also known as Abu Omar.

I tried two phrases for search using TweetVolume. The result was

It did not find many of either, but dropping "convict" seemed to produce more hits.

The breaking news 'came out' at 11:15 a.m. eastern. I did not get to search until 11:38 p.m. central. Archivist picked up only 19 tweets, which was the same as picked up by Twendz when I searched with it. This is not going to be 'big' news.

November 8, 2009 and time to stop the search. This was the least remarked on news, yet. There were only 45 messages found. It is another example of inside and outside the beltway differences in views of importance.
